Tips For How To Be Healthy On A Budget

Whether you are busy with school or work, eating healthy on a budget can be tough and expensive, and that frozen pizza can start to look tempting day after day. All the expenses in life can start to build up between school, rent, utilities and those new boots you want. So I want to share with you my tips for eating healthy on a budget, so you can look good and feel good!

So put down the instant noodles and read on.

Plan ahead.

When you plan ahead, you can budget per week and plan what you need before you get to the grocery store. This way, you won’t waste money on things you don’t need, and you will be less tempted to grab that pizza (ps. I suggest eating before your trip too, so you don’t arrive hungry). With so many planner and sticker options, it has become a really fun way to stay organized with your healthy eating!

Buy in Season.

Have a quick search as to what produce is in season in your area for that time of year. These items will have the best prices, giving you the biggest bang for your buck. Plus, you might find a new fruit or vegetable that you love.

Ice Ice Baby.

If you can’t always afford fresh, head to the frozen aisle! There are many fruits and vegetables that you can keep in your freezer without risk of them going bad before you eat them. Or, if you find something fresh on sale, pick up some extra and pop it in the freezer for another time.

Make double.

Not only will this save you time later in the week but making a big batch of a healthy meal, such as soup, will save you money because you won’t be reaching for those pre-packaged meals in the microwave or going to the drive-thru on the way home.

Check out a farmer’s market.

If you have a nearby market, head out on the weekend to stock up on fresh fruit and veggies. Not only can you score great deals but you know exactly where your produce is coming from.

Take advantage of rewards programs.

Many grocery stores are now offering points when you shop at their store, which adds up to free cash for you. So take a look at different programs at your local grocery stores and start banking some points and earn some extra cash.
