How To Stay Healthy While Traveling

It can be hard to stay healthy while traveling, but if you use these tips it will help you not only stay on track but enjoy travel even more! These are my favorite ways to stay healthy while traveling that are easy and that everyone can do.

Bring a Reusable Water Bottle

The easiest way to stay healthy while traveling is to make sure you stay hydrated. I find the easiest way to do this is to make sure I have a water bottle with me at all times. At the airport, if you are going through security, you’ll have to make sure your water bottle is empty – then fill it at the next water fountain. Not only will this keep you hydrated and help flush out toxins, but it will also save you a few dollars (as you won’t have to buy that $6 bottle of water). Then, take it with you each day to stay hydrated!

Have One Healthy Meal A Day

When you are traveling, it is easy to get caught up in all the yummy and different foods to try. While I’m not saying “don’t eat any great local food”, try committing to fitting in one healthy meal per day; one where you can get your vitamins and nutrients to keep you fuelled to have fun on your travels! You can do this by choosing grilled items over fried and choosing fresh salads or stir fries with lots of veggies. You can still indulge of course, but avoid excess by not doing it at every meal!

Always Carry Snacks

Make sure you have at least a couple snacks in your bag when you head out for the day. Cause lets face it – hungry leads to hangry. And you are more likely to overeat and choose something that isn’t healthy to munch on. So, keep some almond butter packets or a granola bar in your bag to keep you full between meals. They are easy to pack and are loaded with protein, healthy fats and fiber!

Walk Everywhere

A great and easy way to stay healthy while traveling is always trying to walk. Not only will it help to get some exercise, it is also a great way to explore little areas of the city you might not have stumbled upon otherwise. Plus, you won’t notice all those extra steps because you will be having fun!

Bring A Couple Small Workout Tools

If you are bringing your laptop, save some fitness videos to your desktop, or if you have access to the internet, then hop on YouTube for some fitness videos. As little as 30 minutes every other day will make a big difference!

Probiotics

Whether you bring your own capsules or get a bottle of kombucha, probiotics can be super helpful for any digestive upset that may happen when traveling and when encountering new microbes abroad. It will also help keep your immune system in check!
