Coffee Benefits: 7 Reasons to keep Loving your Cup

But first, coffee. The perfect way to explain my obsession with this wonderful drink. In the morning, there is nothing I look forward to more than the smell of coffee brewing and that first sip. I’m sure many of you know what I’m talking about. Whether it’s my almond milk latte or black americano, it wakes me up in the morning and keeps me going throughout the day. And here’s the best news – there are a ton coffee benefits to that cup you love so much, so read on!

Rich in Antioxidants

There are plenty of antioxidants in coffee, called flavonoids, that help to decrease the risk of heart disease, cancer, and Parkinson’s disease. Those antioxidants are also amazing for your skin to fight against aging and damaging free radicals (from pollution in the environment). When you brew your coffee these wonderful antioxidants are released into your brew, working their magic from the inside out.

Increased Energy

Harder, better, faster, stronger. One of the most widely known coffee benefits is its ability to give you a boost! It’s the caffeine in coffee that increases energy levels and can increase endurance when you’re exercising.  It also slows the depletion of glycogen, encouraging your body to use fat as fuel. And finally,  coffee boosts metabolic rates by increasing body temperature. It literally revs up your whole body!

Makes you “go”

We have all heard it, coffee makes you poop. It stimulates muscle contraction in your digestive system and gets things moving, helping to relieve any constipation. So go ahead, drink a cup, it keeps you regular.

Stop and Smell the Coffee

We have all heard the saying “stop and smell the roses”, but have you every tried to “stop and smell the coffee”? Whether you take a waft from the bag of beans or the brewed drink, the smell of coffee has been shown to reduce stress. Managing stress has a big impact on our overall health so it’s important to keep those stress levels low. This is one of the coffee benefits I will do over and over again.

Boosts Memory

Coffee has a great ability to help your brain work more efficiently and increase your short term memory. So, if you have a test or exam coming up, then that cup of coffee will give you the concentration and focus you need to absolutely rock it.

Detoxifier

Toxins can build up in our body and liver, making us feel sick. But, coffee has the benefit to be a powerful detoxifier. It increases the activity of enzymes in our liver to help get all the toxins out of our body. So drink up!

Boosts mood

Let’s face it, coffee just makes us happier. Those moments before that perfect first sip can sometimes seem a bit bleak, but one sip and you smile inside. Getting off to a happy start sets the tone for the rest of the day, and your cup of coffee can be the first step in the right direction.
